Rock Salt, the common name for the mineral form of sodium chloride called "halite," is an inexpensive - although less effective - alternative to our line of ice melt blends.

This type of salt is typically formed when salty water evaporates in lakes and seas. Discovery of Rock Salt formations is a clue that often leads geologists to explore deeper into the earth, in search of new oil and gas resources. 

Mined, screened and packaged for distribution, Magco Incorporated's Rock Salt can be applied to icy and snowy roads to form saline (a mixture of salt and water), which has a lower freezing point than water, helping to improve safety for drivers and their vehicles.
